At Komeda’s
I’m at Komeda’s Coffee. This place is awesome. It’s Showa-era decor, a lot of wood, bricks, and bright red upholstery. Komeda’s feels like it has been part of the furniture for forever, even though in Sakata it’s only been part of the furniture for two or three years by now.
I’m here because I’m a bit desperate. In an effort to prioritise sleep, earlier this year I made a rule not to have caffeine after 12pm, if I can avoid it. This coupled with my other rule of no more than two coffees a day, so I don’t develop a tolerance, means that decaf is about all I want to drink in the afternoons. Even then it’s pushing it because decaf isn’t 100% caffeine-free, but you get what I mean, but I’m willing to make an exception.
That all but limits me to the chain stores, hence Komeda.
The best time to be in Komeda is the morning. They have a ‘morning set’ until 11am daily where you can choose a drink and get some free bread, including butter and red bean paste (if that’s your thing) to go along with it. So, I kind of screwed up there. But hey, I was feeling in a funk, I had two lost in translations things happen to me this morning, so here we are.
